Ware Jackson sponsored this year’s Tee It Up with TIRR golf tournament. Partners Don Jackson, Tyler Henkel, Avery Sheppard and Ferguson McNiel participated in the tournament, which raises funds for Mission Connect, a collaborative neurotrauma research project founded by TIRR Foundation that focuses on traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries.

A Houston trial court has granted summary judgment in favor of Ware Jackson’s client, a major international energy company. The plaintiff company had claimed the client breached a settlement agreement from a prior patent infringement suit, which it asked the court to rescind, and sought over $11 million in alleged lost profits and expenses, as well as attorneys’ fees. Ware Jackson successfully argued on summary judgment that the client did not cause any injury to the plaintiff and that the plaintiff’s contract claim was barred by res judicata and the statute of limitations. The litigation team included Eileen O’Neill, Paul Smith, Michelle Blair, Tyler Henkel, and Jordan Parker.

Shortly before trial was scheduled to commence in a complex will contest case, Ware Jackson reached a favorable settlement for its clients. The clients had been putatively disinherited from a multi-million-dollar estate in which they had previously been beneficiaries. Ware Jackson alleged that the decedent had changed the estate plan while lacking capacity and as a result of fraud and undue influence, making the changes void.
