Ware Jackson Secures Full Defense Verdict on $17M Claim, Plus $2.2M for Counterclaim
Following a two-week trial, Don Jackson, Scott Hooper, and Michelle Blair won a jury verdict exonerating Ware Jackson’s clients on claims of breach of a settlement agreement and fraud and awarding them the full measure of damages on their counterclaim. Associate Avery Sheppard and paralegal Bethany Remlinger rounded out the Ware Jackson team. John and Denise Kim, partners in The Kim Law Firm, represented the co-defendant, which also achieved a complete victory. The plaintiff argued to the jury for approximately $17 million. The jury found in favor of all defendants on all liability issues. The jury further found that the plaintiff breached the parties’ settlement agreement by asserting claims waived in that agreement and awarded defendants over $2.2 million in damages. The case was tried January 22–February 7, 2020 in the 281st Judicial District Court of Harris County, Texas.
